Geoinformatics is a branch of science that deals with issues of geosciences, cartography, geography and other streams related to science, engineering and technology. It is a multidisciplinary subject that combines various aspects of science including physics, chemistry, biology, mathematics, etc. into one unit and makes use of technology and science to address and solve real world issues. It deals with spatial information and using geo visualization, it helps establish a connection among people, locations, etc. There are several softwares like QGIS, Micro Station, GRASS, ArchGIS, SAGA, ENVI, etc. that are used in this field for GIS analysis and other geospatial operations.
Geoinformatics, as the name itself indicates, is a combination of two terms, Geology and Informatics. Hence, the field of Geoinformatics is vast one. There are several areas that concern this beautiful study.
