When people suffer from sleep disorders, they may consult a sleep technologist to obtain an evaluation, diagnosis and treatment. Sleep technologists, also referred to as polysomnographic technicians or technologists, are qualified allied health professionals who work under the guidance of licensed physicians to provide evaluations of problems that affect sleep. To become a sleep technologist, you should earn either an associate degree or a certificate in polysomnographic technology.
