ME / M Tech GeoTechnical Engineering

Post Graduation : Engineering
Eligibility: B Tech / BE
M Tech  Geotechnical Engineering or Master of Technology in Geo-technical Engineering is a two-year postgraduate Geology course. Geo-technical engineering is the branch of civil engineering concerned with the engineering behaviour of earth materials. Geo-technical engineering is important in civil engineering but is also used by military, mining, petroleum, or any other engineering concerned with construction on or in the ground. It is concerned with building on, in, or with soil and rock. Geo-technical engineers design dams, embankments, cuts, foundations, retaining walls, anchors, tunnels, and all other structures directly interacting with the subsoil, both onshore and offshore. Geo-technical engineering shares common interests with other disciplines such as structural engineering, engineering geology, material science, or petroleum engineering. The subjects include engineering behaviour of soil and rock, geo-mechanics, foundations, earth support structures, dams, tunnels, slope stability, geo-technical earthquake engineering and soil dynamics, site improvement, bio-synthetic, groundwater, pollutant transport, chemical behaviour of soil, waste disposal facilities.

M Tech Geo-technical Engineering Eligibility-
The students should have passed a BE/B Tech or equivalent degree with a minimum of 50%marks or equivalent CGPA.
Some of the very reputed institutes conduct an entrance examination for admission.
