Mahendra Educational Trust was established in 1978 by the renowned educationist and philanthropist, Thiru. M. G. Bharat Kumar. Being an experienced teacher himself, Mr. Kumar had a vision of uplifting the rural population of the Salem and Namakkal districts through quality education and skill development activities.
Beginning with schools, the Trust later established institutions of higher education across a number of disciplines. Over time, the number of institutions grew by leaps and bounds to encompass over 25,000 students in various disciplines like Engineering, Science, Arts, Commerce, and Teacher Education.
