M.A. Linguistics or Master of Arts in Linguistics is a postgraduate Language course. Linguistics includes a comprehensive and thorough study of a basic understanding of the three core areas of linguistics: phonetics and phonology, syntax, and semantics and pragmatics. More clearly it is the study of language which identifies the common element connecting the languages and draws its relevance from archaeology, anthropology, psychology, philosophy, sociology, English, computer science and almost every other subject. The course is divided into four semesters and the duration is two years.
M.A. Linguistics Eligibility
Aspiring students should have passed a graduation degree in any stream from any of the recognized universities/colleges of the country.Some of the very reputed universities and institutes demand a minimum of 50% marks in graduation as qualifying criteria to secure admission in this course and conduct entrance examination to get admission to their M.A. (Linguistics) degree course.Selection to the degree course in these colleges is based on marks secured in the final merit i.e. total marks aggregated in the final exams of graduation and the entrance exam.
