Petroleum engineers specialize in the study and discovery of natural reservoirs and petroleum deposits located deep inside the earth. The four-year programme covers the study of discovering and locating these reservoirs and deposits.
Petroleum engineers are expected to locate oil reservoirs and once these reservoirs are located, they study and examine the geological formation, nature of rock containing the reservoir with the help of other geologists to determine the drilling method required for extraction.
Designing and developing effective and cost-efficient technology to extract these petroleum resources is one of the elemental part of the job petroleum engineers. Also, they monitor the drilling process and ensure that the resources are extracted safely and stored properly.
